Jog for Joy - 2026

By Kate Cade

Jog for Joy

I'm not a long distance runner but, happy to support a worthy cause. So! Here we go again!

A year ago, Joy Howden (mother to many but especially Emma, me, Ruby and Anna), inspired us to Jog for Joy and complete a 100km Taupo Ultra Series while she ran her own race against glioblastoma at home. While my incredible mum is no longer with us, we are continuing to fight for others and support the Neurological Foundation New Zealand’s only national charity dedicated solely to funding neurological research and education.

You may have followed our journey or you may have your own. The Neurological Foundation is constantly in the background supporting research into conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system, while helping build the future of neuroscience in New Zealand.

Another family affair, we will run a total of 222km on 17th October across 8 runners as part of the Taupo Ultra Series. In classic 'Joy Howden' style, we'll have countless others there to support, cheer us on and wrangle out tribe of kids.

By donating today you will be contributing to researching conditions that affect 1 in 3 Kiwis. The Neurological Foundation fund approximately $5 million worth of neurological research each year to further our understanding of the 700+ neurological conditions that exist.

Please help me, help them by giving what you can.

If you or someone you know is suffering from brain cancer - you are not alone.

Jog for Joy 2026

I'm not a long distance runner but very happy to be in a position to support a great cause. So! Here we are again!

Last year the one and only, Joy Howden, inspired us to 'Jog for Joy' and complete a 100km Taupo Ultra Series while she ran her own race against glioblastoma at home.

Their work spans conditions affecting 1 in 3 New Zealanders.

This will be another family affair, we will run a total of 222km on 17th October across 8 runners as part of the Taupo Ultra Series. In classic 'Joy Howden' style, we'll have countless others there to support, cheer us on and wrangle out tribe of kids.

If you or someone you know is suffering from brain cancer - you are not alone, let's all do our bit to fight.
Thank you to my incredible supporters!
